What is Hormone and Blood Marker Testing

As part of our Essential Health Check we test 18 markers to identify conditions such as Iron Deficiency, Vitamin B12 deficiency, Vitamin D deficiency, Liver Function and Cholesterol levels. Idenitifying and thus correcting these levels can allow you to feel a boost of energy, improve memory, improve mood, improve your immune system. However many conditions are asymptomatic which means they cause you no physical harm but can lead to more serious conditions if left untreated. If you would like to test individual markers we have separate tests per marker.

How can we fix a deficiency or unusual marker

After you receive your results, you will receive a consultation in which the results will be explained. We will also give solutions to rectify your health state or refer you to your GP. If you are found to have low ferritin or indeed too high we will refer you to your GP. You may receive supplements if appropriate but this will be decided upon by your GP. In the case of Vitamin B, you can take supplements or The Pharmacist Group post consultation will be able to administer a dose via IM injection. In the UK we rarely receive enough Vitamin D, therefore we recommend most individuals take supplements on a daily basis. If you are found to have low or exceptionally low levels of Vitamin D the dose of your supplements may need to be amended. The liver is essential to the proper functioning of your body. It is involved in many roles including processing nutrients from food, the removal of toxins, build proteins the building blocks of the body, energy storage, production of hormones and fighting infection. The Liver Function Test includes many markers for this reason. Lastly Cholesterol is linked to many other heart conditions. It is asymptomatic and is divided into HDL and LDL aka the good and bad cholesterol. Our aim is to lower the bad cholesterol and help improve the good cholesterol levels. If these levels are found to be out with range we will refer to you to your GP.
